Oak Work
We can build all types of Oak Structures.We have a range of Garage/Carports from single, triple with log store without, total flexibility for the client. We are also experts in Oak trusses and roof design. From King post, Queen or Scissor Truss we have no constraints.
All Oak Structures are prepared and crafted on site from the raw material itself. The advantages of this is that you get a total bespoke design, which are not manufactured else where and put together in kit form. So we create a superior finish without the costly overheads.
The most common joint employed is a mortice and tenon, each is fixed together with oak pegs exactly as has been done for centuries. Obviously we have to be cost effective so most of the cutting is now done with high spec. power tools and then hand finished as required.
As well as the traditional, We can also give you the Contemporary look. Giving the Oak Structure A clean look using stainless Steel plates bolted together to fix the Oak structure.
Green, unseasoned Oak contains a high percentage of water and therefore shrinks as it dries and seasons particularly in central heated homes. Providing it is jointed in the correct manner,
when it twists and shrinks most types of joints lock together even more. As it dries it also becomes far stronger and so the shrinkage ends up as a purely visual issue, although most people seem to think it looks better and adds to the character.

The usual site package consists of:
Joist : Traditional Timber, Eco Joist or TGI.
Roof : Traditionally Cut or Manufactured Trusses.
1st Fix : Stairs, Flooring, Stud partition (timber or metal), Door Linings and Window boards.
2nd Fix : Doors, Architrave, Skirting, Boxing, Kitchen fitting and Finals.
External Work : Front and back Doors, Windows, Garage Doors, Fencing,
Steel fixing and Shuttering.
